Teeny Tigers/Crazy Crocs 3-12 months

Tenny Tigers

In our Teeny Tiger room, we have created a brightly decorated room for our babies, aged three months to 12 months. There is a homely area with chairs for feeding children and a brightly coloured activity area. There are display boards to show children’s pictures using sensory items, such as paints, and photographs of particular activities.

We have several cots for the babies to sleep in and each child has their own individual sleep bag, which includes blanket and sheet to prevent cross contamination. The staff ratio is 1:3 in our teeny tiger’s room.

All the children are allocated a key person who focuses on the interests of the child, creating activities such as exploring treasure baskets, heuristic play, and also messy play activities which can include hand/feet printing and much more.

We take pride in working closely with parents and carers by following each child’s routine, providing consistency through home and nursery.

In our Crazy Croc room the physical development of a child is simulated using a varied selection of equipment to crawl, cruise and walk.

Staff encourage the children to participate in creative activities such as painting, gluing, and drawing. There is opportunity to have quiet time on the carpet looking at books or doing jigsaws at our math’s table, as well as a variety of other activities based around children’s individual interests.

The children are always encouraged to be independent and active in learning social skills.

The staff in our rooms are experienced and have varied skills and qualifications. The staffing ratio is 1:3. A typical day in Crazy Crocs is structured, but can be flexible to an individual child’s needs. The children all have access to the sensory room, and have opportunities to explore outdoors each day.

elephants and Parrots

Pretty Parrots

The pre-school section of nursery is situated on the upper level of the building. It consists of two rooms Eager Elephants and Pretty Parrots. Both rooms are decorated beautifully throughout with a bright and stimulating atmosphere for the children to play and learn. There are a variety of displays throughout the room with an emphasis of displaying the children’s own work.

The routine is much more structured than other rooms within the nursery; however we highlight the importance of choice and the children have access to a wide variety of activities, which change weekly. The furniture is labelled with pictures to enable the children to choose their own equipment and resources.
