Parents and carers are encouraged to attend our regular parent’s evenings, which will be held twice a year, to discuss your child’s development with your child’s key worker.
In the future we plan to hold regular parents workshops on subjects such as weaning, creativity with your child, and managing your child’s behaviour .
Every 3 months we will be holding a parents forum.
This gives the opportunity for staff throughout the nursery to meet with parents to discuss nursery issues, and events that may be taking place. We here at Canterbury Road Day Nursery feel it is extremely important for parents to be involved in the nursery.
We will also have a nursery newsletter going out to all the families that attend the nursery, updating on events, information shared from the outcome of the parents forums, and general nursery information.
We are dedicated to the needs of our parents and children in our care, and feel that good communication is essential to the smooth running of the nursery.
In the future we are going to have music lessons here at Canterbury Road Day Nursery, from Jo Jingles. Jo Jingles provides fun music, singing and movement classes for babies and young children.
All the children in the nursery will be able to experience different structured activities which are fun to enjoy, and extremely valuable to a child’s learning and development, in their base room groups.
Jo jingles teaches children to play percussion instruments expressively, to sing songs, hold a tune and find the rhythm to move and dance to. The classes are carefully structured, with different themes introduced using well known songs and nursery rhymes.
We have also enquired about classes from‘Yogabugs’ for the 2-3 year old aged children and the pre-school children. The children are led through creative stories and exciting adventures that stimulate their imagination and help to maintain their natural flexibility. Whilst enjoying a variety of safe postures, the children sing songs, play games and work together. This also helps build a child’s confidence and concentration.
We aim to have ballet and tap lessons from the age of 2, The lessons are split into 20 minutes for ballet lessons, and 20 minutes for tap lessons. The children are keeping healthy whist having fun, by moving different parts of their body. It encourages group participation, self confidence and provides a varied take on physical development. Please see the Nursery Manager if your child would like to participate in these classes.
