Children benefit most when adults are consistent and have a positive approach to the management of their behaviour. We believe that by establishing clear boundaries according to the level of their development, children become aware of the routines and understand what is expected of them. Here at Canterbury Road Day Nursery, we are able to manage children’s behaviour in a way which promotes their welfare and development.
All staff need to be sensitive to the individual needs of the children, cultural and family background, and their developmental stages of learning. Children need to learn how to behave acceptably, with the help of positive role models.
The children in our care will grow and develop in an environment in which everyone knows what is expected, and where they are free to learn and play in a way in which positive behaviours are encouraged, and the opportunity for inappropriate behaviours are minimised.
The Nursery Manager and the fantastic team of staff will ensure that:
• The physical environment is safe, well organised and stimulating
• Activities, resources and equipment are appropriate for the children’s ages and stage of development
• Children are given opportunities to become involved in their own learning environment, including the settings of rules and boundaries
• There are plenty of well planned and age appropriate activities
• Children and adults are actively involved in play in a positive way, enabling appropriate behaviour
• There is a Consistent approach from the staff team, and expectations are made clear to everyone involved with the care of each child including the parents and carers.
