FAQ's


1. How can we get help with nursery fees?

You may be eligible for help from Working Families Tax Credit or alternatively you may be able to get vouchers from work. The Nursery Manager can assist you with any queries.


2. Do we open for Bank Holidays?

No. On Bank Holidays and over the Christmas period we are closed. We are open 51 weeks of the year.


3. How often are the fees of the nursery revised?

Our nursery fees are reviewed on an annual basis.


4. When does my child receive the nursery education grant?

The school term after their 3rd birthday. We fill out forms for the Local Education Authority. The Nursery Manager will apply for this on your behalf. The grant will be deducted from your fees for nursery.


5. Do we take children on trips?

Yes. We may go into our local community for a walk, or to the park. We will also take trips to the Davyhulme library. Larger trips may be advised of in the future.


6. How do we know our child’s routine?

Your child’s typical day routine will be on display in their base room. You will also have the opportunity to talk to your child’s key worker on arrival at nursery, who will go through the daily diary with you, and what your child has been doing on that particular day.


7. How do you prepare our child for school?

The child’s key person’s role is to identify their learning and development needs, and plan activities and experiences in preparation for starting school.


8. My child has an allergy, I’m worried about him being exposed?

You child key worker will go through a Welcome Pack with you when your child starts at the nursery. There are relevant forms to complete if your child has an allergy, where you will highlight the allergy, symptoms of the allergy, and the treatment needed. All staff throughout the nursery will be notified, and of course the nursery chef. We have a special allergy policy that we follow at the nursery.


9. What group activities do you have at nursery?

You child’s key worker will devise activities for your child, which may include other children who share the same interests. We also have group sessions for the sensory room, music lessons, dance lessons, and circle time with songs and stories.


10. How well vetted are the staff?

All staff, under Ofsted rules and regulations, have to complete an enhanced CRB check in order to work with children. The Nursery Manager will check all references given and will not allow a member of staff to work in the nursery unless the CRB check is back and clear.


11. Does the nursery have cameras to take pictures of the children?

The nursery does have cameras in each room to take photographs for a child’s development evidence. We have a photograph policy and will only take pictures at a parent’s agreement. All cameras are returned to the Manager at the end of the nursery day. We also have a mobile phone policy, for all the staff to adhere to. All mobile phones are kept in the staff room and not under any circumstances taken into anywhere else in the building.
