Culture Day

Our pre- school room participates in culture day each Wednesday, where we learn a variety of interesting facts about a country. This includes tasting a variety of foods from the country, where the children help to prepare themselves, with the supervision of an adult. The pre-school children also go on a bus ride to our local Sainsburys where we shop for our ingredients.

We have a visit to Urmston library for story time where we search and read fiction and non-fiction books about the country’s culture.

Each week we focus on a different aspect of the topic such as the country’s celebrations, colours associated with the country and the country’s special features, i.e. Jamaica’s Dunns River.

The adults encourage the children to design and create a number of different pictures and models whilst also listening to the country’s music and creating opportunities for the children to express and communicate their feelings physically.
